8-inch Cutter Suction Dredge
Swinging Ladder Dredge

This 8-inch Cutter Suction Dredge was built in 1987 by Kenner Marine in Louisiana, USA. The dredge is in full operational condition with approximately 3,160 total runtime hours. This dredge can operate as a conventional dredge, where the entire hull and ladder swings in an arc about the stern spud, and it can also operate as a swinging ladder dredge, where the hull remains stationary and only the ladder swings. This feature allows the machine to dredge in confined areas such as boat docks and narrow channels where dredging with a conventional dredge would be impossible.

The dredge has three spuds, all of which are down when the dredge is operating is the swinging ladder mode. In the conventional mode both forward spuds are up, and only the rear spud is down. The rear spud can be tilted hydraulically 15-degrees in a fore and aft direction providing a convenient means of advancing the dredge.
