Dipper Dredger "Nicolaj Saj"
Hitachi EX 800 Backhoe

Nicolaj Saj, originally built as deck barge, was rebuilt in 2004 into a specialized backhoe dredger with strong spuds and a large hydraulic backhoe able to travel longitudinally and transversely along the deck of the vessel. This arrangement allows a wide working area for each position of the barge. The propulsion system from Schottel affords very high maneuverability. This dredger well suited for marine stone works in particular.

The Hitachi model EX 800 backhoe is purpose built for dredging and features a Microdigger dredging system for precise depth control and positioning.

The backhoe pictured in both the photo above and the additional photos are of a leased machine, and not of the backhoe offered.
